2008 Summer Olympics Bids
2008 Olympics is one of the much awaited events and the whole world is waiting for this grand ceremony. The venue for 2008 Olympics is Beijing, the capital city of China. It is one of the most awaited sports event of the world. Hundreds of country participate in this sports extravagant. It is one of the oldest sports event which is still followed. Almost all preparations are complete for this grand event. The city is fully decked up to host this grand event. Hosting an Olympic event is a big deal. Ever country bids for hosting Olympic event.

But after serious selection and voting only some cities are short listed and the final voting decides which city will host the event. Many countries voted their cities for 2008 Summer Olympics bids.Five cities were shortlisted for the 2008 Summer Olympics bids which are Beijing, Istanbul, Osaka, Paris and Toronto. Many voting were held for the final selection of the venue. The final selection is made through a series of voting.

The five cities were shortlisted who were bidding for hosting 2008 Summer Olympics. There was a first round voting in which except Osaka all the cities were selected. It was tough competition as every city was trying their level best to make their country host. The second round voting was very tough in which Beijing won the bid to host the 2008 Summer Olympics. Beijing got the maximum vote for hosting the Olympics. The vote each city received are Beijing got 56 votes, Istanbul got 8 votes, Paris 18 and Toronto 22. IOC evaluated many things before making the final selection. All political, social and economic aspects of the country is checked to see if the country is capable of hosting the Olympics Event. Each Olympics has a different venue. The venue is selected by a selection process done by International Olympic Committee (IOC). The city must be fulfill all the needs of hosting an Olympic games. The selection process is done through three phases. The 2008 Summer Olympics bids was very tough. The city which is interested to host the event must make the proposal through their National Olympic committee. The applications are passed to IOC through National Olympic Committee. Each city bidding for th Olympics are given certain tasks which must be responded through writing.

The applications are regarded to the accommodation facilities, transportation, venue, etc. If the International Olympic Committee is satisfied with the applications they select the applicant and send it for further selection round. In the semi final round of the selection process five cities are selected. The voting are held and the city which gets the maximum vote wins the bid. 2008 Summer Olympics Bids saw ,many popular cities competing. But the selection process is very tough and the city which is more efficient of hosting the Olympics is selected through a voting process.
