Olympic Torch Relay

Olympics is one of the reputed events of the world. It is held once in every four year. Every aspect of the event is very important and carries a deeper meaning. All the traditions of Olympics are still followed. Olympic Games was originated in Greece around 776 BC. It was held in the Olympia city of Greece which is why the even is called as Olympics. It was in 1859 that the first modern international Olympic Games was held. Since then the event is held once in every year in different location. There are many interesting aspects related to Olympic games like th Olympic symbol, Olympic slogan, mascot, torch, etc.

The Olympic torch relay is an integral part of the Olympic event. Olympic torch relay is the symbol of Olympic games. The origin of Olympic torch dates back to ancient time. During the Olympic events in ancient time the fire was kept burning throughout the event. The tradition of the fire was again reintroduced in 1928 Summer Olympics. Carl Diem introduced the modern Olympic torch relay. For the Berlin games of 1936 Carl Diem was the president of the organization committee. The torch ceremony is one of the ceremonies of the Olympic games.

Olympic torch is lighted several months before the opening ceremony of the Olympic games. The old tradition of lighting the torch is still followed. The ceremony of lighting the candle is performed by eleven women representing the priestesses. The torch is lighted by the light of the Sun. This is done in a scientific way the parabolic mirror concentrates the rays of the sun which helps in igniting the torch. The Olympic torch is then carried through every continent and the Olympic torch relay ends on the opening ceremony of the event. The Olympic torch roams through every country and is carried by the reputed sports person of that particular country. The final bearer of the Olympic torch relay is always kept secret. It is carried by the famous and the reputed sports person of the host country. A large cauldron is made in the main venue where the opening ceremony is takes place. The torch bearer with Olympic torch relay ignites th large cauldron. Then that is kept burning till the closing ceremony of the event.

Lighting the Olympic flame is great honor for any sports person. The Olympic flame is one of the main attractions of the Olympic game. As the Olympic Games originated in Greece all the traditions are related to the Greece tradition. Fire has always been sacred for Greeks and therefore they keep the fire burning throughout the celebration of the event. The Olympic torch relay is a part of modern Olympics. The relay system was introduced in 1936 Summer Olympics in Munich. The Olympic torch relay was first transferred through the airplane in 1952. Special emphasis is always laid on the Olympic Torch Relay.
